SSA Social Work's home support service seeks to provide additional assistance to vulnerable adults, who have a range of needs requiring specialised and tailored support.  As a home support worker, you will be required to work in line with the vulnerable adult's procedures and that of SSA Social Works policies and procedures.  The work may be undertaken in a variety of settings such as in the community, in a service user's home, in a social services establishment or in a residential environment.

If you're interested in this line of work you will have a choice of where you work in and around the South Yorkshire region.

You will be encouraged to undertake regular and ongoing supervision, training and appraisal to ensure that you maintain quality through working practices.

The work will include some of the following but will vary in accordance with the service user's needs:

• dealing with correspondences and appointments
• shopping
• cleaning
• taking service users out on activities
• befriending

There may be times when you will be required to prompt service users to take medication but this will be determined by the nature of the work and the requirements of the establishment where you are based.
